Product Description

Ethylene glycol distearate is an important additive in cosmetics industry. It can be used as pearlescent, conditioner and
thickener in shampoo, bath and other washing products.

It is synthesized by esterification of ethylene glycol and stearic acid.The reaction temperature of the traditional synthesis process is high, generally between (150 ~ 210°C).

In order to remove the water produced by the reaction, measures such as nitrogen, pressure reduction or azeotropic dehydration are needed. Because of the high reaction temperature, the carbonization of the product is serious and the color is dark, additional decolorization process is needed.

Some studies have used p-toluenesulfonic acid and phosphite (molar ratio of 1∶1) as composite catalyst (hereinafter referred to as composite catalyst) for esterification reaction, and the amount of catalyst, reaction temperature, reaction time three factors were studied, and a new synthesis process of ethylene glycol distearate was given.
